Put Down the N T Wright

Judaism in the New Testament

Judaism in the New Testament

And pick up Bruce Chilton and Jacob Nuesner!  This book is the best single volume that I’ve read in regards to 2nd Temple Judaism and the theology of the New Testament.  Go get it!

  1. I read that text abot 10 years ago; I got it on sale at Barnes & Noble. I was involved in Jewish misssionary work for about 14 years and it proved to be a valuable volume. Rabbi Nuesner and Fr. Chilton have written some quality projects together.

Have you read Nuesner’s brief volume, “A Rabbi Talks with Jesus”"? Very good. Oddly enough, Nuesner considers Matthew’s Jesus to be the historical Jesus and he doesn’t understand why liberal Christians don’t believe their own book !!! I was a liberal then and was convicted by the words of a rabbi :)
