Preaching Through the Lectionary

I’ve been preaching every week for the last two months now, and I decided to use the LCMS Triennial Lectionary to order my topics.  This has had the benefit of keeping me moving through different portions of Scripture at a steady pace and focusing on Jesus in each text.

  1. There’s a benefit to the lectionary. At times it’s good to force oneself to keep moving into unfamiliar texts and avoid hobby horses. Right now I’m preaching through a book but will break for the upcoming Lenten season most likely and return to the book in the Spring. In some ways the lectionary is easier!
